Beer Batter Chicken
This is a recipe that I adapted from a German cookbook called the 100 most famous recipes in the world. It was originally for sweet and sour pork, but as I don’t cook with pork I used chicken breasts instead and everybody loves it.
|2 boneless chicken breasts1-2 tbsp soy sauce or teriyaki sauce
- cut into cubes or slices
- mix in soy or teriyaki sauce or make a mix of both and mix well and let sit for 1/2 hour or more for the chicken to absorb the flavor
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1/2 cup beer (1/8 liter)
- 1 tsp oil
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2/3+1/6 cup flour (125g)
- mix all indgredients together
- add chicken pieces to the batter and
- fry in oil until pieces are nice and brown.
The original recipe called for deep frying, but I try to stay wasy from that and frying seems to work just fine. The only difference is that the pieces are flat and not round and puffy.
Don’t fry too hot as the chicken needs time to cook also.
