These brownies taste almost like fudge.

  • Preheat oven to 375°F
8 oz semisweet chocolate
1/2 cup unsalted butter or margarine
  • Place ingredients in a microsafe bowl
  • Microwave at MEDIUM power for 3 mintues. Remove and stir until chocolate is blended with the butter.
1 tsp instant coffee (optional)
  • Add to above mixture
2 Eggs
3/4 cup sugar
  • Beat eggs until light and frothy.
  • Slowly add sugar and beat mixture a few minutes until very creamy.
1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Slowly drizzle in melted chocolate mixture into egg/sugar mixture, beating at low speed.
  • Add the vanilla
1/4 cup flour
1 cup coarsely broken walnuts (optional)
  • Stir in flour and walnuts, but do not beat. (I use a fork).
  • Pour mixture into a foil-lined 8×8 inch baking pan (extend foil over edges).
  • Bake at 375°F for 25 minutes.
  • cool on rack before removing from the pan.
  • Cut into 16 squares.
